English to Sanskrit Translator Project

English to Sanskrit translator project aims to speed up translating texts from English to Sanskrit by a significant amount, by producing partially-translated texts in Sanskrit. The software analyzes various types of English sentences and their structures and provides appropriate syntactical mapping between English and Sanskrit.

This will be helpful to scholars who are working on translation projects. It will also be helpful to translate English works  on a bulk basis to Sanskrit. Noted scholar Rajiv Malhotra has stressed the importance of producing new work in Sanskrit.

Phase 1
 - Small database of words corresponding to top 5% English words in Verb, Noun and Adjective Category
- A web-scrapper in VBA is  being used to prepare the dictionary
- A rule engine with rules for seven vibhaktis, 3 purushas, 3 lakars - lat, lit and lang, visheshana

Phase 2
- Verb pratyayays
- Visheshana with gender
- avvyayas
- vant (he is gone - saH gatavAna etc)
- Upto 10% of common English words

Phase 3
- Mapping common idioms - like bite the bullet, etc
- Common phrases
- Upto 20% of common English words
